Dreamlands

 

Demain, c'est le dernier jour d'une très bonne exposition d'architecture au Centre Pompidou. Intitulée Dreamlands, elle démontre comment des mondes virtuels, par exemple des grandes foires internationales et des parcs d'attractions, ont inspiré l'urbanisme aujourd'hui.

On commence par le surréalisme, avec Dali en tête et sa création pour l'exposition universelle à New York en 1939, Rêve de Vénus. Après, le diaporama "Enseignement de Las Vegas" est une formidable leçon autour de la construction du célèbre "strip" et ses enseignes en néon. C'est suivi par des œuvres sur Hollywood,  Disneyworld, Shanghai, Dubaï… Partout dans l'expo il y a des grandes maquettes des villes et des filmes projetés directement au mur, de quoi se nourrir les yeux.

Uniquement pour la partie photographique, ça vaut le détour. Martin Parr est bien sûr présent, mais on trouve aussi des photos par le thaïlandais Manit Sriwanichpoom, Kwong Chi Tseng (E-U), Reem al Ghaith (Dubaï) et Stéphane Couturier (France), ainsi qu'une floppée d'autres artistes avec des images où le virtuel et le réel se confondent, Jusqu'au 9 août

Tomorrow is the last day of a very interesting architecture show at the Centre Pompidou. It is called Dreamlands, and shows how certain virtual places, for example from world fairs and theme parks, have inspired modern day architecture.

It starts with surrealism: Dali and his creation for the 1939 world fair in New York, Dream of Vénus. After that, the slideshow "Learning from Las Vegas" is a great lesson about the construction of the famous strip and its neon signs. This is followed by works around Hollywood,  Disneyworld, Shanghai, Dubaï… Everywhere in the exhibiton you find model constructions of cities and movies projected directly on the walls. Some great stuff!

Just for the photography part, it's worth a visit. Martin Parr is of course represented, as well the thaï Manit Sriwanichpoom, Kwong Chi Tseng (USA), Reem al Ghaith (Dubaï) and Stéphane Couturier (France), as well as a bunch of other photographers with images where virtual and real get mixed up. Until 9th of August

Imorgon är det sista dagen för en intressant arkitekturuställning på Centre Pompidou. Den heter Dreamlands, och visar hur konstgjorda världar, till exempel från världsutställningar och temaparker, har inspirerat samtida arkitektur.

Det börjar med surrealismen och Dalis skapelse för 1939 års världsutställning i New York, Dream of Vénus. Sedan kommer man till bildspelet "Learning from Las Vegas", en utmärkt lektion om uppbyggnaden av den berömda "strippen" och dess neonskyltar.  Efter det följer verk kring Hollywood,  Disneyworld, Shanghai, Dubaï… Överallt på utställningen finner man fantastiska modellbyggen av städer, filmer som projiceras direkt på väggarna och annat ögongodis.

Bara fotografierna gör det värt ett besök. Martin Parr finns förstås med, liksom thailändske Manit Sriwanichpoom, Kwong Chi Tseng (USA), Reem al Ghaith (Dubaï) och Stéphane Couturier (Frankrike), samt en mängd andra fotografer vars bilder har temat verkligt kontra virtuellt. T.o.m.  9 augusti
