Malheureusement quand vous lisez cela, cette expo est déjà terminé. Les dissonances de l'adolescence s'est passé à l'Espace Jemmapes, centre culturel municipal dans le 10e arr. à Paris, où je me suis trouvé vendredi soir pour écouter chanter Sarah Olivier. Comme il me restait du temps avant le concert, je suis allée faire un tour dans l'expo, dont j'avais déjà entendu parler par Marc Pussemier de La Librairie Photographique. 

J'ai pu découvrir quatre photographes talentueux (Cécile Chaput, Sandrine Derym, Eric Facon (Bar Floréal) et Lynn S.K.) qui traitent l'adolescence en image avec autant de délicatesse que de tendresse. J'ai particulièrement apprécié les scènes de vie capturés en noir et blanc par Eric Facon et les portraits pleine de sensibilité de Sandrine Derym. La dernière a réuni ses photos de l'expo dans un livre autoédité intitulé "17 ans", en vente pour 15 euros à sandr@netcourrier.com.

Unfortunately when you read this, the show will already be over. Les dissonances de l'adolescence took place at the Espace Jemmapes, a cultural center in the 10th arrondissement, where I was friday night to listen to the singer Sarah Olivier. Since there was some time left before the concert, I had a look at this photo exhibition, recommended to me by Marc Pussemier at La Librairie Photographique. 

I discovered four talented photographers (Cécile Chaput, Sandrine Derym, Eric Facon (Bar Floréal) et Lynn S.K.) who carefully and tenderly pictures adolescence. I especially appreciated the everyday life scenes captured in black and white by Eric Facon and the portraits full of sensibility by Sandrine Derym. The later has put together her photos from the exhibition in an auto-edited book called "17 ans", available for 15 euros at sandr@netcourrier.com.  

När du läser det här, är utställningen tyvärr redan över. Les dissonances de l'adolescence hängde på Espace Jemmapes, ett kulturellt center i Paris tionde arrondissemang, där jag befann mig i fredags för att lyssna till sångerskan Sarah Olivier. Då jag hade lite tid över innan konserten, tog jag en titt på utställningen, som jag hört talas om genom Marc Pussemier på La Librairie Photographique. 

Jag hade nöjet att upptäcka fyra talangfulla fotografer (Cécile Chaput, Sandrine Derym, Eric Facon (Bar Floréal) et Lynn S.K.) som behandlar tonårstiden med lika delar ömhet och respektfullhet. Jag uppskattade särskilt de typiska vardagssituationerna fångade i svartvitt av Eric Facon och de känsliga porträtten tagna av Sandrine Derym. Den senare har samlat sina foton från utställningen i en egenutgiven bok kallad "17 ans", som hon säljer till priset av 15 euros via adressen sandr@netcourrier.com.

 

SFR Jeunes Talents/Young talents/Unga talanger

Apéro photo n°7

Une fois par mois,  il y a une apéro photo organisé par Jonathan Smadja en parténariat avec Darqroom et le magazine Compétence Photo. Ce soir, j'y suis allée pour la première fois.
Au programme il y avait l'exposition "Femmes", que j'avais déjà le plaisir de voir au Salon de la Photo en 2009. (Parmi les participants, un de mes contacts sur Flickr, l'excellent Stéphane Giner. )
On trouvait aussi un atelier studio où, pour cinq euros, on pouvait faire des photos coaché par un pro et avec la participation d'un modèle.
Finalement, j'ai fait la connaissance d'Alexandre, photographe amateur passioné par les lumières, avec qui j'ai discuté sur l'expo en particulier et la photo en générale.
Bref, une soirée plutôt réussi.

Once every month, there is a apéro photo organised by Jonathan Smadja in cooperation with Darqroom and the magazine Compétence Photo. Tonight, it was my first time there.
On the menu was the exhibition "Femmes"(=women), that I had already had the pleasure of seeing at the 2009 edition of the Salon de la Photo. (And among the participants, one of my Flickr pals, the excellent Stéphane Giner.)
There was also a studio class where, for five euros, you could take photos of a model coached by a professional photographer.
Finally, I made a new aquantaince, Alexandre, amateur photographer in love with light, with whom I discussed photo in general and the exhibition in particular.
All in all, a very nice evening.

En gång i månaden är det apéro photo, organiserat av Jonathan Smadja i samarbete med Darqroom och tidningen Compétence Photo. Ikväll var jag där för första gången.
På programmet fanns utställningen "Femmes"(=kvinnor), som jag redan hade haft nöjet att se på 2009 års upplaga av Salon de la Photo. (Bland utställarna fanns en av mina Flickr-kontakter, den utmärkte Stéphane Giner.)
För fem euros kunde man också pröva på hur det är att fota i studiobelysning, med en riktig modell och coachad av en professionnell fotograf. 
Slutligen gjorde jag en ny bekantskap med Alexandre, amatörfotograf och besatt av ljus, med vilken jag diskuterade foto i allmänhet och utställningen i synnerhet.
Helt enkelt en mycket trevlig kväll.

G comme "garage"/G as in "garage"/G som i "garage"

Une fois par mois, Jean Alain organise un pot quelque part dans le 19e arrondissement, dans le but de réunir des passionnés de la photo autour d'un verre dans un endroit sympa. Cette fois-ci on a été dans deux lieux différents, dans le joli quartier de la Mouzaïa.
D'abord rendez-vous au Galerie G — ancien garage de 340m², 32m de long — et l'exposition collective "Sensations photographiques". On y trouvait des artistes de la photo plasticienne très intéressants, et concocté spécialement pour cette soirée nocturne, il y avait un buffet végétarien délicieux.
On a continué aux Mères Veilleuses, restô de quartier sympa, où ARTALB a pris l'occasion de nous montrer un diaporama des photos qu'il avait fait lors d'un spectacle magique. J'ai aussi eu le plaisir de discuter avec une compatriote, Hanna. Contente et fatiguée, je suis rentrée chez moi dans la nuit de printemps.

Once a month, Jean Alain organizes a meeting in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, so that people that are passionate about photography can meet for a drink or two in a nice place. This time, he made us discover no less than two different places in a cute neighbourhood called Mouzaïa.
First rendez-vous at Galerie G — a former garage that is 340m² and 32m long — and the group exhibition "Sensations photographiques". A show with really cool art photography and, since it was a late night special, a delicious vegetarian buffé.
We went on to Les Mères Veilleuses, a nice little restaurant, where ARTALB took the occasion to show us a computer slideshow of photos he had taken during a magician's show. I also had the pleasure of chatting with a fellow Swede, Hanna. Happy and tired, I then went home in one of the first warm nights of spring.

En gång i månaden arrangerar Jean Alain en träff i Paris 19e arrondissemang, så att fotoentusiaster kan mötas över ett glas eller två på någon mysig bar. Den här gången var vi på två olika ställen i ett väldigt gulligt litet kvarter som heter Mouzaïa.
Först så sågs vi på Galerie G — ett före detta garage som är 340m² och 32m långt — för grupputställningen "Sensations photographiques". Ett flertal intressanta konstfotografer deltog med sina verk och kvällen till ära fanns också en underbar vegetarisk buffé.
Vi fortsatte sedan till Les Mères Veilleuses, en mysig kvarterskrog, där ARTALB tog tillfälligt i akt och visade oss ett bildspel med foton han tagit på en magi-show. Jag hade också nöje att stifta bekantskap med en annan svenska, Hanna. Trött men nöjd begav jag mig till slut hemåt i den varma vårnatten.

Galérie Vendôme

Mardi soir a eu lieu une exposition éphémère à la Galerie Vendôme. C'était un ami, Olivier Tops, photographe humaniste originaire de Megève, qui pour une seule et unique soirée nous a montré des photos panoramiques de Paris et New York.
Non seulement ce jeune homme parcours le monde avec une énergie incroyable à la recherche des clichés forts — il sait aussi dénicher des lieux prestigieux pour les montrer ! Avec son talent,  il revient sans doute dans un rien de temps pour exposer à Paris.

Tuesday night, there was a short-time exhibition at the Galerie Vendôme. During one single evening, a friend of mine, Olivier Tops, a Megève-based photographer in the humaniste vein, showed us his panoramic shots from Paris and New York.
Not only is this young man travelling around the globe with an incredible energy in search of strong subjects — he also knows how to find out prestigious places to exhibit his work. With all this talent, I'm sure he will be back with a new show in Paris in no time at all !

I tisdags kväll, kunde man se en tillfällig utställning på Galerie Vendôme. Under ett fåtal timmar, ställde min bekant Olivier Tops, Megève-baserad fotograf som jobbar i den franska humaniste-traditionen, ut panoramabilder från Paris och New York.
Förutom att den här unge mannen med en väldig energi reser jorden runt i jakt på starka bilder, har Olivier också en osviklig förmåga att hitta prestigefyllda adresser för att visa upp sina verk. Med den kombinationen av talanger, lär det inte dröja länge innan vi ser honom på nytt i Paris.

Deux vernissages/Two openings/Två vernissager

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending two different openings.
The first one, at La maison du Canal, was the photos of Claude Colom, former photographer at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, in a show called "Ornaments au Père Lachaise". Not only were there excellent prints up on the grids, but slideshows on all the computers and on the wall. The evening was quite a success. I was very happy to meet Sabino, Yohann and Edith again - that I all know from when I had my own exposition there in December, and a make new aquantaince, Cécile Colom, daughter of the artist and herself a graphic designer. The second opening, "In the city" at the Greenlane Gallery, showed photos of Jim Kezman and Ravnish Gandhi. I know Jim from the Paris Photography Meetup group and a lot of group members had accordingly made it to the gallery tonight. The place was really crowded, even getting in was a problem! On the walls, a flawless presentation made the photos stand out, colourful and very cosmopolitan. Until 21 of March 2010

Ce soir j'ai eu le plaisir d'aller aux deux vernissages différentes.
La première, à La maison du Canal, avec des photos de Claude Colom, ancien photographe à la BNF, était pour une expo intitulé "Ornements au Père Lachaise". Non seulement des tirages excellents aux grilles, mais aussi des diaporamas sur les ordinateurs et le mur. L'événément avait beaucoup de succès. J'ai eu le joie de revoir Sabino, Yohann et Edith - dont j'ai fait la connissance lors de mon propre expo en décembre, et j'ai fait la nouvelle connaissance de Cécile Colom, la fille de l'artiste exposant, elle-même graphiste. La deuxième vernissage était pour "En ville", à la Greenlane Gallery, et montrait des photos de Jim Kezman et Ravnish Gandhi. Je connais Jim de Paris Photography Meetup group. Beaucoup de gens du groupe sont venus pour la soirée. Il y avait un monde fou, c'était même difficile d'y entrer dans la galérie ! Sur les murs, un accrochage impec' mettait des photos hautes en couleur et profondement cosmopolites, en valeur. Jusqu'au 21 mars 2010

Ikväll hade jag nöjet att gå på två olika vernissager.
Den första, på La maison du Canal, med foton av Claude Colom, f.d. fotograf på Bibliothèque Nationale de France, gick under namnet "Ornements au Père Lachaise". Fotona som ställdes ut på de s.k. gallren i fönstren var mycket fina och kompletterades av ett diabildsspel på ett flertal dataskärmar och på en vägg. Evenemanget var välbesökt. Jag hade glädjen att återse Sabino, Yohann och Edith - som jag alla lärde känna i samband med min egen utställning där i december och gjorde även en ny bekantskap i form av Cécile Colom, dotter till den utställande fotografen, själv grafisk formgivare. Den andra vernissagen var för "In the city", på Greenlane Gallery, och visade foton av Jim Kezman och Ravnish Gandhi. Jag känner Jim från Paris Photography Meetup group. Många från gruppen fanns också med på vernissagen. Det kryllade av folk, bara att ta sig in på galleriet var en bedrift! På väggarna hjälpte en proffsig och stilren hängning de färgstarka och kosmopolitiska fotografierna att komma till sin rätt. T.o.m. 21 mars 2010

Trois mois et des poussières/Three months worth of dust/Efter tre månader är det dags att damma av

Three months later and due to all the changing between lenses lately, my camera started to get really dusty. Little black spots suddenly appeared on the bright blue Paris sky.
Luckily, for messy people like me, there's the special Nikon center, where as long as your camera is under warrenty, they clean it up for free.
It only takes half an hour, and for those who want something to kill time, I recommend a visit to the latest parisian concept store, Merci, just across the street. (Except for excellent shopping, you'll also find a restaurant and a café)

Après trois mois, à cause des nombreux changements entre objectifs, mon appareil photo est devenu vraiment sale. Des petites tâches noires aparassaient sur le ciel bleu clair de Paris.
Heureusement, pour des gens dans ma situation, il y a un centre Nikon, où, tant que ton appareil est sous garantie, on le nettoie sans frais.
Cela ne prend qu'à peine une demie-heure, et pour ceux qui ne sauront pas s'occuper, je recommend une visite à Merci, le dernier concept store parisien, juste en face. (À part le shopping, il y a aussi la possibilité d'y boire ou manger.)

Efter tre månaders användande och den senaste tidens ständiga bytande mellan olika objektiv, var min kamera rejält dammig. Små svarta fläckar prickade plötsligt Paris klarblå himmel.
Tack och lov, för såna som mig, finns det ett Nikon-center i Paris, där de rengör ens kamera gratis, så länge garantin varar.
Det tar inte mer än en knapp halvtimme och för de som inte vet hur de ska slå ihjäl tiden, rekommenderar jag ett besök på Merci, den senaste parisiska koncept-butiken, tvärs över gatan. (Förutom butik finns där kafé och lunchrestaurant.)

Lisette Model

San Francisco, 1949

Comme il faisait beau ce midi, je me suis promenée jusqu'à Jeu de Paume où j'ai vu l'excellente expo de la photographe Lisette Model. Ce fut une découverte pour moi et je dois dire que j'ai vraiment été impressionée par ses "anti-portraits" - burlesques, pleine de noirceur, cadrages très serrés avec un grain argentique prononcé. Une visite s'impose si vous n'y avez pas encore été.

Since the sun was shining today, I took a walk to the Jeu de Paume on my lunchbreak and saw the excellent show of photographer Lisette Model. It was a new discovery for me and I must say was truly inspired by her "anti-portraits" - burlesques, dark, tightly cropped and with the grain of the film highly visible. It's definately worth a visit!

Eftersom vi hade underbart vårväder idag, tog jag en promenad till Jeu de Paume på min lunchrast och såg deras utmärkta utställning av fotografen Lisette Model. Det var en ny bekantskap för min del och jag blev mycket inspirerad av hennes "anti-porträtt" - burleska, fyllda av svärta, tajt beskurna och med den för film karaktäristiska grynigheten. Helt klart värt ett besök om ni har vägarna förbi.

C'est la vie !

Hier j'étais voir l'expo Vanités au Musée Maillol. À une époque, je portais une grande fascination pour les têtes mortes, mais là je me sentais plutôt écœurée par toutes ces évocations de la mort. Ce qui m'a quand même plu, c'est le grand mélange ici des noms très connus, sous un même thème — la sélection d'artistes est excellente. Parmi les photographes, on trouve Robert Mapplethorpe, Joel Peter Witkin (bien sûr !) et Irving Penn. Déjà, ça vaut le détour.

J'y suis allée avec une autre Suédoise installée à Paris, Cecilia. Elle travaille sur une thèse en littérature et enseigne le Suédois à la Sorbonne. Avec nos points de vue différentes c'était un après-midi très enrichissant.

Dernièrement, je vous montre un de mes autoportraits sur ce thème. C'est un pastiche sur Hamlet, joué avec un pastèque à la place de tête de mort !

Yesterday I went to see the exhibition Vanités at the Musée Maillol. There was a time when I was really fascinated by skulls, but this time, I was a bit throwed off by all this reminders of death. What excited me, though, was the big mix of very famous names, gathered around a theme - the selection of artist was truly exceptional. Among the photographers were Robert Mapplethorpe, Joel Peter Witkin (who else!) and Irving Penn. Just that was worth a visit.

With me, I had another Swede living in Paris, Cecilia. She's working on a thesis in literature and is teaching Swedish at Sorbonne. With our different viewpoints it became a very interesting afternoon. 

Last but not least, I would like to share with you one of my self portraits on this theme. It's a pastiche on Hamlet, with a watermelon instead of a skull !

Igår var jag och såg utställningen Vanités på Musée Maillol. En gång i tiden hade jag en period när jag var väldigt inne på döskallar, men nu kände jag mig mest lite äcklad över alla dess påminnelser om döden. Vad som fångade mig var dock en fantastisk mix av kända konstnärsnamn, runt samma tema - urvalet var verkligen exceptionellt. Bland fotograferna fanns Robert Mapplethorpe, Joel Peter Witkin (självklart!) och Irving Penn. Bara det värt ett besök.

Med mig hade jag en annan svenska som bor i paris, Cecilia. Hon skriver på en avhandling i litteratur och undervisar svenska på Sorbonne. Med våra olika synvinklar blev det verkligen en givande eftermiddag.

Sist men inte minst: ett av mina självporträtt på detta morbida tema. Det är en pastisch på Hamlet, men med en vattenmelon istället för döskalle!
