Photo: Karin Crona
Last weekend I was off to Normandy with my friend Stef, who has bought a big house over there in need of a good renovation. As there is nothing more photogenic than an old, decayed house with its handpainted wallpapers coming off, I proposed to Stef she would model for me in it. I took some shots of myself too, to share the pain of taking off your clothes when the temperature is little over zero! In my bag, I had 15 meters of fabric, something in between a curtain and a bride's veil, that I had brought to play around with. The result? Some fantastic shots, but sorry, not destined for the internet. I'm participating in a contest, though, with a series from this photo session, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Paris Cookbook Fair/Festival du livre culinaire/kokboksmässa

Out of sheer gluttony, I went to the Paris Cookbook Fair, where you’re invited to taste with your eyes. I didn't only find cooking books, there were also photo exhibitions as well as tattooed dancers from the Pacific.

Photophage : the show/l'expo/utställningen

Me in front of my photos/Moi devant mes photos/
Jag framför mina foton. Photo/foto: Chris Navas
What a weekend! Two days full of photo sharing, interesting new people and this in a place where you instantly feel at ease!
Like I told you in my latest post, I've been selected to participate in a group show called Photophage, organized by Julien Navas in his Galerie 106.
The theme was "Urban life", and the other exhibiting photographers, apart from Julien himself, were Eva, Sébastien, Morgane, Pierre and me.
The opening was a busy night, when you hardly had the time to say hello to everybody, while as Sunday was laidback with croissants and more time to chat.
A very nice experience, I was glad to be there, and I'm really looking forward to come back as a visitor, too see what new photographers Julien assembles for his upcoming theme shows.

Quel week-end!

For five years, the association Fetart has been energizing the scene of contemporary photography in France: making calls for applications on the Internet, scouting budding talents and then giving those visibility among art professionals and the general public.
The festival
Circulation(s), in the parc de Bagatelle just outside Paris, brings together 42 new European talents. The ambition has been to create a bridge between photography in France and Europe, and this event is to take place each year in March.
Here is a lot of talent, that’s for sure. If I should criticize something, it would be the (too) many different directions. Maybe a common theme would have been a good idea. I find most interesting the photos that investigates man and his environment ("Lands Ends" by
Pavlos Fysakis,"Natural Areas" by Jean-Jaques Ader and "Photography without a gaze" by Robert Baum are among my favorites). This being sort of the dominant theme, I feel like the still lifes, the very intimate portraits and the abstract photos, — despite their general quality — seem a bit out of place...
But it's a small detail. Overall, I really liked the show and I wish this good initiative a long life to continue offering us great photographic encounters! Until March 20

T.o.m. 20 mars

Alban Lecuyer : "Downtown Corrida"

Alban Lecuyer and his series Downtown Corrida, pictures of demolition, got lots of attention. His photos, manipulated but quite realistic, questions us about the value we attribute to different types of architecture. Here a short movie about his technique and the thoughts behind his work.
