Every evening at the festival, there is a projection in a huge outdoor theater. Awards are given out, and you get to see different slideshows. For example, one could be the major news between April and May in images, another a feature from Sierra Leone, a third images describing environmental issues in Antarctis, etc. This is, in my opinion, the most interesting part of the festival.
Those who have a badge, like professionnals paying a fee for special advantages, goes in first, but the nights we were there, we had no problem getting seats.
Tous les soirs pendant le festival, il y a une projection sur écran géant en extérieur. On attribue des prix et il y a des diaporamas différents. Par exemple, il y a tous les événements importants entre mai et avril en image, suivi par un reportage de Sierra Leone, puis un autre sur les problèmes environnementaux à Antarctique, etc. À mon avis, cela est la partie la plus intéressante du festival.
Ceux qui ont un badge, càd des pros qui ont payé pour certains avantages, sont prioritaires, mais les soirs qu'on y était, il n'y avait aucun problème d'avoir des places.
Varje festivalskväll är det bildvisning på en jätteduk utomhus. Man delar ut priser och visar olika bildspel. Det kan vara alla viktiga nyheter mellan april och maj i bilder, sedan ett reportage från Sierra Leone, följt av ett annat kring miljöproblem i Antarktis, etc. Enligt min mening är det här den mest intressanta delen av festivalen.
De som har ett festivalpass, dvs yrkesmänniskor som betalar för vissa fördelar, går in först, men under de kvällar vi var där, hade vi inga problem att få platser utan.
There are also conferences on different subjects. We went to the one organized by ELLE magazine on the image of the woman in photojournalism. All in all, we found the lectures rather consensual and not very interesting, even if one learned a few things about the female stereotypes, victims or not in the war and conflicts around the world.
Il y a aussi des conférences sur des sujets différents. Nous, on est allé à la conférence ELLE sur l'image de la femme dans le photojournalisme. On a trouvé ça assez consensuel et pas très intéressant, même si on apprenait certaines choses sur les stéréotypes autour de la femme, victime ou non, dans les guerres et les conflits autour du monde.
Man kan också närvara vid konferenser i olika ämnen. Vi var på den kring bilden av kvinnan i fotojournalismen, organiserad av tidningen ELLE. Vi fann det hela rätt så konsensuellt och inte speciellt intressant, även om man visst lärde sig en del om kvinnliga stereotyper, med eller utan offer-roll, i krig och konflikter runt om i världen.
A very nice part of the festival is how easy it is to meet people who share the same passion as yourself — photography! Thanks to a mutual friend, Francesca and I had the pleasure to get to know Audrey Bardou (above), a talented young photojournalist, who just published a series of photos in the very first issue of burn magazine.
Un côté très sympa du festival est la facilité qu'on a de rencontrer des gens qui partage la même passion que nous — la photographie. Grâce à un ami en commun, Francesca et moi avons eu le plaisir de connaître Audrey Bardou (ci-dessus), une jeune photojournaliste très talentueuse, qui vient de publier une série de photos dans le tout premier numéro de magazine burn.
En mycket trevlig sida av festivalen är hur lätt det är att möta människor som delar samma passion - foto. Tack vare en gemensam bekant, fick Francesca och jag nöjet att lära känna Audrey Bardou (ovan), en ung och mycket talangfull fotoreporter, som just har fått en serie bilder publicerad i premiärnumret av tidningen burn.
The tapas bar Bar Celone soon became our favourite spot, and we met lots of nice festival visitors there. Above is Fra on the couch with Thierry, photo editor, and Laure, photoreporter. (The red ribbon around their necks is the mentioned festival badge.)
On est vite devenu des habitués du bar aux tapas Bar Celone, où l'on a croisé pas mal de gens très sympas. Ci-dessus on voit Fra sur le canapé avec Thierry, iconographe, et Laure, photojournaliste. (Les rubans rouges autour des cous sont les fameux badges.)
På det som snabbt blev vårt favoritställe, tapasbaren Bar Celone, var det lätt att hamna i slang med trevliga festivalbesökare. Här ovan ses Fra i soffan med Thierry, bildredaktör, och Laure, reportagefotograf. (Det röda bandet de har runt halsen är det omtalade festivalpasset.)
