At the opening, I ran into Edwin from the Insights project's Petersen/Engström workshop. He told me that he had been a student at the school a few years back, and that just a few hours ago he had been assisting to hang the show, get the lights right etc. Good job, Edwin!

What struck me about the exhibition, was how different everyone was from the others, and that everybody not only had their own style, but also there own genre: fashion, reportage, portrait, art photo, architecture… Here are some of the people I had the chance to talk to:

Au vernissage, j'ai croisé Edwin qui avait participé au Petersen/Engström stage organisé par Insights project. Il m'a raconté qu'il y a quelques années, lui-même a fait cette école et que ce jour-là, il avait assisté à l'accrochage et l'éclairage de l'expo. Bon boulot, Edwin !

Ce qui m'a frappé dans l'expo, c'est à quel point les élèves de cette année se differentient les uns des autres, non seulement dans les styles, mais aussi dans les genres : photo de mode, reportage, portrait, photo intimiste, architecture… Voici quelques uns avec qui j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir discuter : 

På vernissagen, sprang jag på Edwin från workshopen med Petersen/Engström organiserad av Insights project. Han berättade att han varit elev på skolan för ett par år sedan och att han samma eftermiddag hjälp till att hänga utställningen och sätta ljuset. Bra jobbat, Edwin!

Vad som slog mig med utställningen, var hur olika alla var sinsemellan. Inte bara till stilen, men också till genren: mode, reportage, porträtt, konstfoto, arkitektur… Här är några av de jag hade glädjen att få prata med:

Per Åström is showing a series called Creative destruction, capturing the demolition of buildings from the eighties. He said what fascinates him about those, is that they are knocked down not because of age, but because they are of such poor quality. I instantly fell for a couple of images, with a beautiful, golden light as a sharp contrast to the torn down walls and the demolished construction material.

Per Åström montre une série intitulée Creative destruction, qui capture la démolition des immeubles des années quatre-vingt. Il disait, que ce qui lui fascine dedans, c'est qu'ils sont détruites non à cause de l'age, mais parce que la qualité est tellement mauvaise. J'ai tout de suite adoré un couple d'images avec une lumière doré qui tranche parfaitement avec les constructions cassées et les gravats. 

Per Åström visar en serie foton kallad Creative destruction, som fångar rivandet av åttiotalshus. Ha berättade att vad som fascinerar honom med dessa, är att de inte rivs p.g.a. ålder, utan den usla byggkvaliteten. Jag föll direkt för ett par bilder med ett vackert, gyllene ljus som en skarp kontrast till de rivna fasaderna och de förstörda byggmaterialen.

Emelie Lindgren has interpreted visually the most frequent themes of our dreams. She has a very poetic approach and masters well the balance between narration and abstract.

Emelie Lindgren a interprêté visuellement les themes les plus commun de nos rêves. Elle a une approche très poétique et sait bien tenir l'équilibre entre l'abstraction et la narration.

Emelie Lindgren har tolkat visuellt de mest återkommande av våra drömteman. Hon har en mycket poetisk kvalitet i det hon gör och håller en bra balans mellan berättande och abstraktion.

Anders Haglund is a magazine designer and has now added photographer to his business card. His photos here depicts a car wreck in the forest taken over by nature. It could have been viewed as a reportage, but beautiful lighting and part of a human body takes these images a little further and gives it all an artistic edge.

Anders Haglund était déjà graphiste de magazine et peut maintenant rajouter photographe sur sa carte de visite. Ses photos ici sont d'une voiture abandonnée dans un forêt, envahi par la nature. Cela aurait pu être un simple reportage, mais une lumière magnifique et la partie d'un corps humain dedans, pousse le sujet un peu plus loin dans l'artistique.

Anders Haglund är tidningsformgivaren som nu kan lägga till titeln fotograf på sitt visitkort. Hans bilder här, visar hur naturen tar över ett övergivet bilvrak i skogen. Man kan kalla det för reportage, men det fantastiska ljuset och skymten av en människokropp tar det här snäppet längre, mot ett mer konstnärligt uttryckssätt.
