A pair of travelling art photographers at VU and eleven SFR Jeunes talents winners at LE BAL. Two photo openings that both gathered a lot of visitors last thursday night.

Ett par resande konstfotografer hos VU och elva SFR Jeunes talents-vinnare hos LE BAL. Två vernissager som båda drog en stor publik i torsdags kväll.

Opening no 1 was at VU, where most of the space at the moment is attributed to the photos of José Ramon Bas. This second exhibition of his at the gallery contains two series: Ndar with images from Senegal, and Here and there, which are aerial photos. José Ramon Bas is a visual poet, his photos are like pages from a travel diary that he writes on and molds into blocks of resin, thus becoming little objects.

In a smaller part, you'll find the work of Yannis Roger, a collection of photos from 2004-2010 called Après. A photographer and a professional musician, his images recollects spontaneous moments of his voyages, with both darkness and vivid colours, all beautifully printed on Ilfochrome paper.

Being at the opening with a friend from Flickr, TOF, we both prefered Yannis Roger's photos, since they have such a perfect mastering of light and composition that we found truly inspiring.

We then continued to LE BAL, where a big crowd had gathered to eat, drink and see work from eleven photographers that has in common that they've all been awarded by SFR Jeunes talents since 2008. The show, that only lasted a few days, was a nice peak into what's going on in young french and european photography, but unfortunately, in my opinion, without any real surprises.

Vernissage no 1, c'était donc au VU, où la plus grande partie de la galerie en ce moment est attribuée à l'œuvre de José Ramon Bas. Son deuxième exposition ici contient deux séries : Ndar avec des images de Sénégal, et Here and there, qui sont des photos aériennes. José Ramon Bas est un poète visuel, ses photographies sont comme des pages d'un carnet de voyage. Il écrit par-dessus et les inclut dans de la résine, les donnant ainsi la forme des petits objets.

Au fond, dans une plus petite partie de l'espace, on trouve le travail d' Yannis Roger, une collection de photos de 2004-2010 intitulée Après. Photographe et musicien professionnel, ses images, à la fois sombres et colorés et parfaitement imprimées sur du papier Ilfochrome, sont pris au hasard pendant ses déplacements.

J'ai assisté au vernissage du VU avec un ami de Flickr, TOF, et on a tous les deux eu un préférence pour les photos de Yannis Roger, car elles témoignent d'un maîtrise parfaite de la lumière et de la composition qu'on a trouvé sincèrement très inspirant.

Après, on a continué vers LE BAL, où une grande foule mangeait, buvait et regardait le travail de onze photographes tous récompensés par SFR Jeunes talents depuis 2008. L'expo, qui n'a pas duré que quelques jours, était une entrevue sympa de la jeune photographie en France et en Europe, mais malheureusement un peu prévisible, sans surprises.

Denna hans andra utställning på galleriet består av två bildserier: Ndar med bilder från Senegal, och Here and there, med flygfoton. José Ramon Bas är en visuell poet, hans fotografier liknar sidor från en resedagbok som han skriver på och gjuter in i akrylglas, så att de blir till små objekt.

I en mindre del, längst in i galleriet, hittar man foton av Yannis Roger, en samling från 2004-2010 som kallas Après. Bilderna, som är slumpmässigt utvalda ögonblick från hans olika resor som proffsmusiker, är fulla av både svärta och starka färger, vackert kopierade på Ilfochrome-papper.

Jag var på vernissagen med en kompis från Flickr, TOF, och vi föredrog här Yannis Rogers bilder, då de har en så perfekt behandling av ljus och komposition som vi båda tyckte det var mycket inspirerande att se.

Vi fortsatte sedan till LE BAL, där en stor skara samlats för att äta, dricka och se bilder av elva fotografer som har det gemensamt att de vunnit olika utmärkelser från SFR Jeunes talents sedan 2008. Utställningen, som bara varade i några dagar, var en intressant inblick i ungt fotografi från Frankrike och Europa, men lite väl förutsägbart i min smak, kanske.
