Jens Olof Lasthein

 

J'ai eu un vrai coup de cœur l'autre jour quand je suis allée voir, avec une amie photographe, Nathalie,  l'expo White Sea Black Sea de mon compatriote Jens Olof Lasthein à la galerie La petite poule noire. 

Lasthein, qui donc est suédois, mais a grandi au Danemark, est photographe free-lance pour la presse ainsi que sur des projets personnels. Il est le lauréat du prestigieux prix Leica Oscar Barnack en 2010. 

Il faut dire que ses images panoramiques sont étonnantes dans toute leur complexité. Elles racontent des histoires en plusieurs plans, avec un angle de prise de vue cinématographique, très proche du sujet. C'est un travail qui parle de l'est et l'ouest, avec un mélange de mélancolie et de nostalgie.

L'exposition dure jusqu'à fin janvier, donc vous avez encore deux semaines pour aller la voir. 

Quand vous y êtes, regardez aussi l'expo Treize histoires dans la même galerie, où treize écrivains présentent chacun un texte inédit, pour accompagner une image de leur choix. Ce sont plus que des légendes, ce sont des œuvres d'art réappropriées, pour citer un des auteurs.

An amazing photographic moment came the other day when I, along with friend and photographer Nathalie, saw the exhibition White Sea Black Sea by fellow Swede Jens Olof Lasthein at the La petite poule noire gallery.

Lasthein, who is Swedish, but grew up in Denmark, is a free-lance photographer working for the press as well as carrying out personal works. He is the winner of the prestigious Leica Oscar Barnack award in 2010. 

One must say that his panoramic images are amazing in all their complexity. They tell stories on multiple levels, from a strong cinematographic angle, close to the subject. It is work that speaks of east and west, with a mixture of nostalgia and melancholy.

The show lasts until late January, so you still have two weeks to go see it. While you are there, check out the show Thirteen histories in the same gallery, where thirteen writers each present an original text to accompany an image of their choice. This is more than just captions, it's about re-appropriating a work of art, to quote one of the authors. Until January 31

En fantastisk fotoupplevelse fick jag härom dagen då jag tillsammans med en vän och fotograf, Nathalie, begav mig till galleriet La petite poule noire och såg utställningen White Sea Black Sea av landsmannen Jens Olof Lasthein.

Lasthein, som alltså är svensk, men har vuxit upp i Danmark, arbetar som frilansfotograf för tidningar, men har även egna projekt. Han är 2010 års vinnare av det prestigefyllda priset Leica Oscar Barnack Award. 

Det måste sägas att hans panoramabilder är av en imponerande komplexitet. Här berättas historier i flera plan, med en starkt cinematografisk vinkel, tätt inpå ämnet. Det är verk som handlar om öst och väst, med en blandning av nostalgi och melankoli.

Utställningen pågår t.o.m. slutet av januari, så ni har två veckor på er att hinna dit. När ni är där, passa på att också se Tretton historier i samma galleri, där tretton skribenter var och en presenterar en nyskriven text som illustrerar en utvald bild. Detta är mer än bildtexter, snarare ett sätt att tillskansa sig ett konstverk, för att citera en av upphovsmännen.
