La Lettre de la Photographie is an excellent newsletter to follow different events in photography on a daily basis. During the holidays, they also show photos from photographers/readers, this time on the theme of "celebration". Today I was among the happy few to have my work published online!

La Lettre de la Photographie est un excellent moyen de se tenir au courant quotidiennement avec ce qui se passe dans la photographie. Pendant les vacances, on publie aussi des images des photographes/lecteurs du site, en ce moment sur le thème des "fêtes". Aujourd'hui, j'étais parmi les heureux sélectionnés publiés en ligne!

La Lettre de la Photographie är ett utmärkt nyhetsbrev som dagligen tar upp vad som är på gång inom fotografin. Under loven, visar de också bilder från olika fotografer/läsare, just nu på temat "fest". Idag fanns jag bland de lyckliga utvalda och fick en bild publicerad på deras sida på nätet!

I have in fact already shown work of Stéphanie Lacombe on this blog. What I find fascinating about this young photographer, who was awarded the Niépce price in 2009, is how she can create the most intimate work, then switch back to a style that is quite the opposite. Last time I wrote about her, was after being seduced by her very personal photos at the gallery La Petite Poule Noire. This time, something completely different, but of equal quality: a documentary study of the finnish peope at their dinner tables. I highly recommend a visit of the exhibition at the Institut finlandais in Paris. Until January 7th, closed for holiday Dec 21-Jan 2.

Souvenez-vous, j'ai déjà montré le travail de Stéphanie Lacombe sur ce blog. Ce que je trouve fascinant avec cette jeune photographe, qui a été attribuée le prix Niépce en 2009, c'est sa capacité de créer un travail d'auteur très personnel, puis retourner vers un registre qui se trouve à l'opposé. La dernière fois que j'ai parlé d'elle, c'était après avoir eu un coup de cœur pour ses photographies très intimes à la galerie La Petite Poule Noire. Cette fois, il s'agit de quelque chose complètement différent, mais d'une qualité égale : une série documentaire des finlandais à table. Je vous conseil d'aller voir l'expo à l'Institut finlandais à Paris. Jusq'au 7 janvier, fermé pour les fêtes entre le 21 déc-2 jan.

Jag har faktiskt redan visat Stéphanie Lacombes bilder på den här bloggen. Vad som fascinerar mig hos den här unga fotografen, som tilldelades Niépce-priset 2009, är hur hon kan skapa så otroligt intima verk, för att sedan gå tillbaka till en stil som är den rakt motsatta. Sist jag skrev om henne, var efter att ha tilltalats av hennes mycket personlig bildspråk på galleriet La Petite Poule Noire. Den här gången är det något helt annat, men av lika hög kvalitet: en dokumentär studie av finländarnas middagsbord. Utställningen finns att se på Institut finlandais här i Paris. T.o.m. 7 januari, helgstängt den 21 dec-2 jan.

Paris Photo & Co./Cie

Paris Photo has in a few years grown into THE big thing for photographic galleries around the world to meet their french and european audience. Terribly successful, the 2011 edition was held in the Grand Palais, with huge masses of people lining up to get inside. But for those who did not want to, or could not pay the 25 euros to get in, there was a bunch of interesting alternatives around the city at the same time, offering each a creative approach to the market of contemporary photography.

En quelques années, Paris Photo est devenu LE grand événement pour les galeries photo du monde entier qui veulent rencontrer leur publique français et européen. Un succès de folie, l'édition 2011 a eu lieu au Grand Palais, où énormément de gens faisait la queue devant pour entrer. Mais pour ceux qui ne voulait pas, ou ne pouvait pas se payer les 25 euros pour entrer, il y avait un tas d'alternatives intéressants au même moment, chacun avec son approche créatif pour le marché de la photographie contemporaine.

Paris Photo har på några få år blivit DEN stora grejen för fotogallerier från hela världen som vill möta sin franska och europeiska publik. En enorm succé, med 2011 års upplaga perfekt placerad i det fantastiska Grand Palais, där folk villigt köade i kylan för att komma in. Men för de som inte ville eller kunde betala 25 euro i entré, fanns det samma helg en mängd intressanta alternativ, vart och ett med sitt kreativa sätt att förnya marknaden för nutida fotografi.

Partageons le 10e

J'expose en ce moment dans le cadre de « Partageons le 10ème » avec trois autres photographes — Morgane Launay, Béatrice Téraube et Pierre Emmanuel Délétrée. C'est le fruit d’une collaboration entre nous, la maison du Canal (Régie de quartier Paris 10) et des habitants du 10ème, avec Mathilde Sasia en chargée de projet. 
Guidés par une dizaine d’adhérents, à l’occasion de plusieurs sorties à travers le 10ème de mai à septembre 2011, on a réalisé les images, qui puissent se voir comme une promenade entre l'instantanéité et l'histoire. Le vernissage a eu lieu vendredi dernier, mais l'exposition dure jusqu'au 18 novembre. La maison du Canal, Régie de Quartier Paris 10ème, 13-17 rue Louis Blanc, 75010 Paris

If you want to see my photos from the project « Partageons le 10ème » ("Share the tenth"), as well as those of three other photographers — Morgane Launay, Béatrice Téraube and Pierre Emmanuel Délétrée, it's right now at the Maison du Canal. A collaboration between us, the maison du Canal and the inhabitants of the 10th arrondissement in Paris, with Mathilde Sasia as project manager. 
The photos, that can be viewed as a stroll between present time and history, are the result of several guided tours in the neighbourhood with it's members, from May to September 2011. Jag ställer just nu ut foton inom ramen för « Partageons le 10ème » (ung. "Låt oss dela på tionde") tillsammans med tre andra fotografer — Morgane Launay, Béatrice Téraube och Pierre Emmanuel Délétrée. Utställningen är resultatet av ett samarbete mellan oss, la maison du Canal (ett kvarterscenter) och invånarna i Paris tionde arrondissemang, med Mathilde Sasia som projektledare. 
Bilderna, som kan ses som en passage mellan nuet och historien, har vi tagit från maj till september 2011, i samband med ett flertal promenader guidade av boende och föreningsmedlemmar. The third edition of Photoquai shows no less than 46 photographers from 29 countries. Here are my favourites from this Parisian biennial of non-Western photography. It only lasts until November 11, so hurry up if you don't want to miss it!

La troisième édition de Photoquai présente pas moins que 46 photographes venus de 29 pays. Voilà mes coups de cœur de cette biennale de la photographie non-occidentale. Cela se termine le 11 novembre, donc depêchez-vous si vous voulez la voir!

Den tredje upplagan av Photoquai visar inte mindre än 46 fotografer från 29 länder. Här är mina favoriter från denna Paris-biennal för ickevästerländskt foto. Den avslutas den 11 november, så skynda er om ni vill hinna se!

Sacré Sandra !

She is one of the gifted photographers I met during the Boehm Kobayashi workshop earlier this fall. Since then Sandra Schmalz has showed her work Elli at the Quinzane Photographique Nantaise — where she was given the QPN 2011 award. Plus her series Portrait with façade is right now at the Librairie Photographique in Paris. And on November 10 opens a group show, organized by Fetart: Il est interdit d'interdire ! ("It is forbidden to forbid!"), where you can get a glimpse of her new work. A talent to seriously watch out for.

Elle est une des photographes talentueux que j'ai rencontré lors du workshop Boehm Kobayashi en août cette année. Depuis, Sandra Schmalz a montré son travail Elli au Quinzane Photographique Nantaise — où elle a été récompensée par le prix QPN 2011. Sa série Portrait with façade est actuellement exposé à la Librairie Photographique à Paris. Et le 10 novembre ouvre une exposition collective, organisée par Fetart: Il est interdit d'interdire ! où il s'agit de ses nouveaux œuvres. Un talent à suivre attentivement…

Hon är en av de begåvade fotograferna jag lärde känna på workshopen med Boehm Kobayashi tidigare i höstas. Sedan dess har Sandra Schmalz visat sitt verk Elli på Quinzane Photographique Nantaise, där hon tilldelades priset QPN 2011. Dessutom är hennes bildserie Portrait with façade aktuell på Librairie Photographique i Paris. Och den 10 november är det vernissage för en grupputställning, organiserad av Fetart: Il est interdit d'interdire ! ("Det är förbjudet att förbjuda!"), där man kan se några av Sandras nya verk. En talang att inte släppa med blicken!

Rencontres Photographiques du 10e

Fifteen selected photographers, two exquisite corpses and a fabulous photo game by the collective Faux Amis. Thursday was the opening night for the main show of the 4th edition of the Rencontres Photographiques du 10e.

Quinze photographes sélectionnes, deux cadavres exquises et un jeu photo fabuleux signé le collectif Faux Amis. Jeudi soir a eu lieu le vernissage de l'exposition centrale du 4eme édition des Rencontres Photographiques du 10e.
Femton utvalda fotografer, två cadavres exquis och en fantastisk foto-lek av kollektivet Faux Amis. I torsdags var det vernissage för huvudutställningen i den fjärde upplagan av Rencontres Photographiques du 10e.

La belle Adeline

I got to know Adeline when taking photos at a performance of Flexible, Hop Hop! (written by Emmanuel Darley), a theater play that she is directing, and also starring in. Above you see some pics I shot recently for her actor's portfolio.

J'ai connu Adeline lorsque j'ai pris des photos à une répresentation de la pièce de théâtre Flexible, Hop Hop!, (écrit par Emmanuel Darley), qu'elle a mis en scène, et dans laquelle elle joue. Ci-dessus vous trouvez quelques images que j'ai pris récemment d'elle, pour son book d'actrice.

Jag lärde känna Adeline då jag fotograferade en föreställning av teaterpjäsen Flexible, Hop Hop!, (manus av Emmanuel Darley), som hon regisserar och även spelar med i. Här ovan ser ni några bilder jag nyligen tog av henne, ämnade för hennes skådespelarportfolio.

Claudine Doury & Jeffrey Silverthorne

Apart from both being excellent photographers and represented by the agence VU, Claudine Doury and Jeffrey Silverthorne don't have much in common. Claudine Doury, who I admire a lot because of her ability to go between reportage and staging, investigates the sensibility of children and teenagers. while as Jeffrey Silverthorne violently explores the questions of sex and death, taking us to the darker corners of society, such as morgues and brothels. (And yes, sometimes it reminds me of Antoine Agata's work).
Right now, the two of them are being exposed in Paris, and I highly recommend their shows. Doury's at the Carré de Baudoin and Silverthorne's at the galerie VU. Jeffrey Silverthorne, Galerie VU, until Oct. 29. Claudine Doury, Carré de Baudoin, until Nov. 26, 2011.

À part d'être tous les deux des excellents photographes représentés par l'agence VU, Claudine Doury et Jeffrey Silverthorne n'ont pas grande chose en commun. Claudine Doury, que j'admire beaucoup pour son aisance d'osciller entre le reportage et la mise en scène, se renseigne sur la sensibilité des enfants et des adolescents. Jeffrey Silverthorne, de son côté, explore violemment les questions de la sexualité et de la mort, nous emmenant au coins les plus sordides de la société, comme les morgues et les maison closes (et oui, parfois cela me rappelle l'œuvre d'Antoine d'Agata).
En ce moment, les deux sont exposés à Paris, et je vous recommande vivement d'aller voir les expos. Celle de Doury au Carré de Baudoin, celle de Silverthorne's à la galerie VU. Jeffrey Silverthorne, Galerie VU, jusqu'au 29 oct.. Claudine Doury, Carré de Baudoin,  jusqu'au 26 nov, 2011.

Förutom att båda är utmärkta fotografer, representerade av agenturen VU, har inte Claudine Doury och Jeffrey Silverthorne så mycket gemensamt. Claudine Doury, som jag beundrar mycket för hennes förmåga att röra sig mellan reportage och iscensättning, utforskar barn och tonåringars känsloliv. Jeffrey Silverthorne, å sin sida, utforskar frågor kring död och sexualitet och tar oss med till samhällets mörkare hörn, som bårhus och bordeller (och, ja, ibland påminner det mig om Antoine Agatas bilder).
Just nu ställer båda två ut i Paris, och jag rekommenderar de som har möjligheten, att se båda utställningarna. Doury på Carré de Baudoin och Silverthorne på galerie VU. Jeffrey Silverthorne, Galerie VU, t.o.m 20 okt. Claudine Doury, Carré de Baudoin, t.o.m. 26 nov. 2011.

Ares 20 ans/years/år !

I came to know about Ares when I was doing a reportage as an admission test to get in to the EMI-CFD photojournalist course. Looking for places offering integration jobs, a journalist from the financial magazine Alternatives Economiques told me about a couple of different cooperatives and associations, among them Ares. I contacted them, and they accepted me to come and take some photos. They could use my pics for free, and I eventually got into my program, so I guess it was a good deal for both of us!
Since then, I've been doing a couple of workshops with the employees, and my latest mission was to take photos of their hands, to use as signs for the 20 year anniversary party, that took place Monday evening at the art center 104 here in Paris.
The event turned out a big success with lots of people who attended an exhibition, a conference and a cocktail party, interrupted from time to time by the excellent performances of the Ares' own theater troup.

J'ai connu Ares lors du reportage qui faisait parti de mes tests d'admission à la formation de photojournalisme à EMI-CFD. Je cherchais des lieux d'emploi d'insertion, et un journaliste du magazine économique Alternatives Economiques m'a donné quelques pistes des cooperatifs et des associations, entre eux Ares. Je les ai contacté, et on a accepté que je vienne prendre quelques photos. Ils ont eu le droit de se servir librement de mes photos, et moi finalement, j'ai été admise à la formation, ça nous a donc servi tous les deux !
Depuis, j'ai fait quelques ateliers avec les salariés, et ma dernière mission, c'était de prendre en photo leurs mains, pour créer un système de signalétique pour la fête des 20 ans d'Ares, qui a eu lieu lundi dernier au centre d'art Le 104, à Paris.
L'événement était un succé avec beaucoup de monde qui a suivi un parcours, puis assisté à une conférence et finalement il y avait un cocktail, tout cela interrompu de temps à autre par des saynètes, jouées par le superbe groupe de théatre d'Ares. 

Jag kom i kontakt med Ares då jag höll på med intagningsprovet för EMI-CFD fotojournalistutbildning. Till reportagedelen  av provet, sökte jag efter ställen som erbjöd instegsjobb, och en journalist från ekonomitidningen Alternatives Economiques gav mig namnet på ett antal kooperativ och föreningar, bland dem Ares. Jag ringde upp dem och de accepterade att jag kom och tog lite bilder. Det visade sig bli en bra överenskommelse för oss båda, för de fick lov att använda mina bilder gratis och jag kom in på utbildningen som jag sökte!
Sedan dess, har jag också hunnit med att hålla i ett par workshops för de anställda, och min senaste uppgift där var att ta fotografier av händer, som sedan skapa ett skyltsystem för deras 20-årsjubileup, som hölls i måndags på konstcentret 104 här i Paris.
Evenemanget blev en stor succé med många besökare. Dessa erbjöds en rundvandring på en särskilt ihopsatt utställning om företaget, följt av en konferens och slutligen ett cocktailparty — allt detta med avbrott för sketcher, uppförda av Ares egen, fantastiska teatergrupp.

Nuit blanche 2011

La Nuit Blanche à Paris, ça égale souvent attendre très longtemps pour voir pas grande chose. Cette année, j'avais décidé de ne pas faire la queue du tout. Tant pis pour Sachiko Abe, Christian Boltanski, Purple Rain et cie! J'ai quand même réussi à voir des trucs bien. Même si souvent, il me semble que les installations artistiques plutôt servent comme joli fond pour les photos des visiteurs, que de faire réflechir les gens.
Mes coups de cœur : Des graphistes japonaises au Centre Pompidou et Douglas Gordon chez La Machine avec une toute nouvelle installation vidéo.

La Nuit Blanche (The white=sleepless night) in Paris, often means waiting a lot for not much. This year, I had decided not to wait in line at all. Never mind Sachiko Abe, Christian Boltanski, Purple Rain and the others ! I managed nevertheless to see some interesting stuff. Even if the artistic installations rather seem to serve as background for the visitors photos, than to make people think.
My favourites: Japanese graphic designers at Centre Pompidou and Douglas Gordon at La Machine with a brand new video installation.

La Nuit Blanche (Den vita=sömnlösa natten) i Paris, innebär ofta mycken väntan för desto mindre innehåll. I år hade jag bestämt mig för att inte köa överhuvudtaget. Strunt i Sachiko Abe, Christian Boltanski, Purple Rain och de andra publikmagneterna ! Jag lyckades hursomhelst att se en hel del intressant. även om det ibland känns som om konstinstallationerna mer tjänar som bakgrund till publikfoton än manar till eftertanke.
Mina favoriter var: japanska grafiska formgivare på Centre Pompidou och Douglas Gordon på La Machine med en sprillans ny videoinstallation.

Along with my father, now a retired photographer, I visited Fotografiska in Stockholm during my trip to Sweden last week. Most of all to see the big Mapplethorpe retrospective, but there were also some pleasant "bonuses". My dad truly enjoyed the Helen Levitt street photography exhibition, that he thought was worth the entrance fee in itself, and I was eager to see the show "Lowlands" by Martin Bogren, who I met during the Agata workshop in Morocco last year. Martin has a really sensitive eye, and I have to say I loved the mix of portraits and landscapes here.
Our visit ended with lunch at the café of Fotografiska and it's impressive panoramique view of Stockholm. Such a sunny, happy day !

Avec mon père, photographe aujourd'hui en retraite, je suis allée visiter Fotografiska à Stockholm pendant mon voyage en Suède la semaine dernière. Notre but principal étant de voir le grand rétrospective de Mapplethorpe, on a aussi eu le droit à quelques "bonus". Mon père a beaucoup apprécié l'expo photo de rue de Helen Levitt, qu'il a considéré valait l'entrée toute seule, et moi, j'ai voulu voir l'expo "Lowlands" par Martin Bogren, que j'ai connu au workshop d'Agata au Maroc l'année dernière. Martin a vraiment un œil sensible et j'ai adoré le mélange des portraits et des paysages qu'il montre ici. 
On a terminé notre visite avec déjeuner dans le café de Fotografiska et son vue panoramique sur Stockholm. Quelle journée heureuse et ensoleillée !

Tillsammans med min pappa, numera pensionerad fotograf, besökte jag Fotografiska i Stockholm under min Sverige-resa i förra veckan. Mest för att jag ville se den stora Mapplethorpe-retrospektiven, men det visade sig även finnas ett antal fina "bonusar". Min pappa uppskattade mycket Helen Levitts gatufotografier, som han ansåg vara värda biljettpriset bara de, och jag var angelägen att se utställningen "Lowlands" av Martin Bogren, som jag lärde känna på Agata workshopen i Marocko förra hösten. Martin har ett känsligt fotografiskt öga, och jag måste säga att jag älskade blandningen här av porträtt och skånska landskap.
Vårt besök avslutades med lunch på Fotografiskas café och dess fantastiska panoramavy över Stockholm. En mycket solig och vacker dag!

Le Monde des Ados

I love working for the french teenage magazine Le Monde des Ados (Fleurus Presse). The topics are interesting and really varied, I work with great journalists, meet a lot of nice people and I learn new things. Plus — I always get a kick from seeing my work printed. You can imagine how proud I was to hold the latest issue in my hands, with no less than three stories signed by me as the photographer. Yeah!

J'adore travailler pour le magazine Le Monde des Ados (Fleurus Presse). Les sujets sont intéressants et très variés, je bosse avec des journalists talentueux, rencontre des gens sympa et j'apprends pleine de choses. En plus — ça me fait toujours son petit effet de voir mon travail imprimé. Vous pouvez donc imaginer ma fierté quand j'ai reçu le dernier numéro, dans lequel je n'ai pas moins que trois reportages où je signe comme photographe. Yeah !

Jag älskar att jobba för den franska tonårstidningen Le Monde des Ados (Fleurus Presse). Artiklarna är intressanta och tar upp allt mellan himmel och jord, jag jobbar med duktiga journalister, möter härliga människor och lär mig massor av nya saker. Och — jag får alltid en kick att se mina bilder tryckta och publicerade. Ni kan ju tänka er hur stolt jag var då jag höll det senaste numret i mina händer, med inte mindre än tre reportage där jag står för bilderna. Yeah!

Zmâla # 3

Zmâla, excellent yearly publication dedicated to the work of photo collectives around the world, had a launch party (above) for it's third issue last week at the book store Le Monte-en-l'Air in Paris. Nice food, good wine, a super slideshow and an opportunity to have your picture taken was some of the things, offered to the many photointerested visitors of the event.
I was happy to bump into my photofriend Beatrice, as well as some of my future classmates at the photojournalist school EMI-CFD!

Zmâla, l'œil curieux, excellente revue annuelle, dédiée aux collectifs photo du monde entier, a fêté le lancement de leur troisième numéro (ci-dessus) à la librairie de Ménilmontant, Le Monte-en-l'Air, jeudi dernier. Des trucs à grignoter, du vin, un diaporama d'enfer et la possibilité de se faire prendre en photo étaient parmi les choses offertes aux nombreux passionés de la photos qui se sont déplacés pour y assister.
J'étais heureuse d'y croiser ma copine iconographe et photographe, Béatrice, ainsi que quelques uns de mes futurs camarades photojournalistes chez EMI-CFD.

Zmâla, utmärkt årlig tidskrift som publicerar bildreportage från olika fotokollektiv över hela världen, firade sitt tredje nummer förra veckan med en fest på bokhandeln Le Monte-en-l'Air i Paris. Massor av tilltugg, gott vin, ett fantastiskt bildspel och möjligheten att få sitt porträtt taget var något av det som erbjöds de många fotointresserade besökarna.
Jag hade nöjet att träffa Beatrice, en fotokompis, samt några av mina framtida klasskamrater på EMI-CFDs fotojournalistutbildning.

Portraits de villes, portraits d'expatriés

Un Canada doublement vu par des étrangers, c'est l'exposition Portraits de villes, portraits d'expatriés, qu'on peut voir en ce moment à la Galerie de l'Université Paris 8 à St Denis, en banlieue parisienne. Deux jeunes photographes, Alfredo Brant et Hugo Hébrard, ont visité deux grandes villes canadiennes — Montréal et Toronto — et ils se sont intéressés aux regards que portent les expatriés sur leur environnement. Canada viewed by foreigners, as seen by two visiting photographers, there you have the theme for the show Portraits de villes, portraits d'expatriés that you can see right now at the Galerie de l'Université Paris 8 in St Denis, just outside Paris. Two young photographers, Alfredo Brant and Hugo Hébrard has visited two major canadian cities — Montreal et Toronto — to find out how expats there view their new environnement. How do you make such a big city your own, and how does the city itself succeed in integrating its new inhabitants? Such is the question that the duo ask themselvess while taking photos of the people they meet  (Alfredo Brant), or the urban landscape (Hugo Hebrard). An interesting work that has already been awarded the prize Paris Jeune Aventure. Until September 23

Kanada genom främlingars ögon, i sin tur sedda av två besökande fotografer, där har ni temat för utställningen Portraits de villes, portraits d'expatriés som man kan se just nu på Galerie de l'Université Paris 8 i St Denis, strax utanför Paris. Två unga fotografer, Alfredo Brant och Hugo Hébrard har besökt två kanadensiska metropoler — Montreal och Toronto — för att sätta sig in i hur utlandsstationerade personer, s.k. expats, upplever sin nya närmiljö. Hur blir man hemmastadd i en så stor stad och hur lyckas staden som sådan att införliva sina nya invånare? Det âr frågorna som den här duon ställer sig då de tar bilder av personer de möter  (Alfredo Brant), eller själva stadsarkitekturen (Hugo Hebrard). The photo fanzine "Six people in one small room" was created by me and five other photographers, guided by the duo Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber of Boehm Kobayashi. It all happened during a workshop organized by PiY and LE BAL books, and this is how we made it.

Le fanzine photographique "Six people in one small room"(Six personnes dans une petite pièce) est la création de moi et cinq autres photographes, guidé par le duo Katja Stuke et Oliver Sieber de Boehm Kobayashi. Tout cela pendant un workshop organisé par PiY et LE BAL books et voilà comment ça s'est passé.

Fotofanzinet "Six people in one small room"(Sex personer i ett litet rum) gjordes av mig och fem andra fotografer, ledda av duon Katja Stuke och Oliver Sieber, som är Boehm Kobayashi. Allt detta under en workshop organiserad av PiY och LE BAL books, och så här gick det till.

Isa & Greg - The Wedding/Le Mariage/Bröllopsyra

I've been following a friend, Isabelle, with my camera through some lifechanging moments: her engagement with boyfriend Greg two years ago, then her pregnancy and the birth of their little daughter, Juliette. Now it was time for the weddingbells to ring and I had the honor of being the official photographer at the event, that took place in a Normandy château, ideal surroundings for wedding photography indeed… Here are some of my own favourite pics.

J'ai suivi une amie, Isabelle, avec mon appareil photo pendant quelques années où sa vie à beaucoup changé. Elle s'est fiancée avec son copain Greg il y a deux ans, puis elle est tombée enceinte et ils ont eu une petite princesse, Juliette. Le weekend dernier, le moment est venu pour fêter le mariage et j'ai eu l'immence honneur d'être élue photographe attitrée de l'évenement, qui a eu lieu dans un sublime château dans sa Normandie natale. Le cadre parfait pour des photos de mariage… Voici quelques unes de mes images préférées.

Jag har följt en väninna, Isablle, med min kamera genom ett par år kantade av stora händelser: förlovningen med pojkvännen Greg för två år sedan, sedan graviditeten följd av ankomsten av en liten dotter, Juliette. Nu var det dags för bröllopsklockerna att ringa och jag hade äran att vara utsedd till officiell bröllopsfotograf. Festen ägde rum på ett slott i Normandie, det perfekta stället för att ta bröllopsfotografier… Här är några av mina egna favoritbilder.

I held my first workshop ever yesterday at the associative company Ares in Paris. Three courageous "students" — Saloua, Neb-Noma and Naïma — together with Aimée from the Ares staff, met up for a fastforward introduction to portrait photography. After showing and discussing a selection of inspirational work from, among others, Nan Goldin (of course), Daido Moriyama, Ben Watts and Annie Leibowitz, it was time to create the portraits ourselves, so we headed out for the assignment I had set up. First you take a picture of me like you see me. Then you take another one where it's me who decide how I want to be seen. It all worked out pretty well, to be honest I was amazed with such creative potential! After a shy start, the ideas from everyone just got crazier and crazier and the group ended up with some really neat shots of each participant. Next time the theme is "colour". I'm already looking forward to see where that leads us…

J'ai animé mon premier atelier photo hier, au sein de l'entreprise Ares association, à Paris. Trois courageux stagiaires — Saloua, Neb-Noma et Naïma — ainsi que Aimée de l'équipe Ares, se sont retrouvés pour un cours express en portrait photo. Après un visionnage et une discussion autour des images d'inspiration de, entre autres, Nan Goldin (évidemment), Daido Moriyama, Ben Watts et Annie Leibowitz, c'était à leur tour de créer. On est donc sorti pour le défi que j'avais préparé :   Prends une photo de moi, comme tu me vois, puis tu prends une autre où c'est moi qui décide comment j'ai envie d'être vu. Tout c'est merveilleusement bien passé — pour être honnête j'ai été bouleversé par leur potentiel créatif ! Après un démarrage plutôt timide, tout le monde s'est complêtement laché et à la fin on avait quelques portraits vraiment sympa de chaque participant. La prochaine fois, le thème sera "la couleur". J'ai déjà hâte de voir ce que cela va donner…

Jag höll i min första fotoworkshop igår hos integrations-företaget Ares i Paris. Tre modiga deltagare — Saloua, Neb-Noma and Naïma — samt Aimée från Ares personal, hade mött upp för en snabbintroduktion till porträttfotografering. Efter att ha visat och diskuterat inspirerande bilder från, bland annat, Nan Goldin (förstås), Daido Moriyama, Ben Watts och Annie Leibowitz, var det dags att skapa något själva, så vi begav oss ut för att ta itu med uppgiften jag hade förberett. Först tar du en bild av mig, som du ser mig, sedan fotograferar du mig som jag vill bli sedd. Allt fungerade bra och jag var ärligt talat mycket imponerad av gruppens kreativa potential! Efter en lite blyg början, släppte alla loss ordentligt och i slutändan hade vi ett flertal intressanta porträtt av varje deltagare. Nästa gång är temat "färg". Jag är redan nyfiken på resultatet…

Best of Arles

Arles in July is the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie (first photo festival in the world founded in 1969), but also the alternative festival Voies Off, plus smaller exhibitions in every corner of the town. This year, it was my first time visiting this famous event. Here are my favourite discoveries from four very intense days.

Arles en juillet, c'est les Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie (premier festival photo au monde, fondé en 1969), mais aussi l'alternative Voies Off, ainsi que des événements dans tous les coins de la ville. Cette année, c'était la première fois que j'ai assisté à ce "must" du paysage photographique en France. Voici mes coups de cœur de quatre jours très intenses.

Arles erbjuder under juli månad Les Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie (världens första fotofestival, grundad 1969), men här finns även alternativet Voies Off, samt en antal mindre evenemang lite överallt i staden. För mig var det första gången jag upplevde denna fantastiska fotofest. Här är mina favoriter från fyra intensiva dagar.

Chiara Tocci

No need to have an actual gallery space to show your work. In Arles any place is possible. Wednesday I came by a very cool opening, happening right in the middle of the street, red wine from a box being served in plastic cups to people strolling by. It turned out, the exhibition was right there, in the window of a pharmacy. Indeed a cure for sore eyes! I had a chat with one of the photographers, a lovely italian girl named Chiara Tocci, currently living in Great Britain. Her photos are those to the right, with a beautiful lighting, a long term project from Albania. The space was shared with Will Hartley and the show was organized by Joni Karanka of Third Floor Gallery. Chiara is among the winners of the FreshFacedandWildEyed2011 and will be showing her work in Italy this fall. A talent to keep your eyes on.

Pas besoin d'un espace galerie pour montrer son travail. À Arles tout est possible. Mercredi, je suis tombée sur un vernissage hyper sympa, au milieu de la rue où on servait du vin rouge d'un cubi dans des gobelets en plastiques, aux piétons qui passaient. Au fait, l'expo était juste là, dans le vitre d'un pharmacie. Le parfait remède pour des yeux fatigués. J'ai profité pour discuter un peu avec un des photographes exposants, une jeune italienne charmante, Chiara Tocci, qui vit actuellement en Grande Bretagne. Ses photos, caractérisées par un très belles lumière, font parti d'un projet en long terme en l'Albanie. La vitrine était partagé avec Will Hartley et l'expo était organisé par Joni Karanka de Third Floor Gallery. Chiara se trouve parmis les gagnants de FreshFacedandWildEyed2011 et exposera son travail en Italie cet automne. Un talent à suivre de près.

Man behöver inte ha en gallerilokal för att ställa ut. I Arles är alla platser en potentiell utställningsyta. I onsdags eftermiddag hamnade jag på en väldigt cool vernissage, mitt i gatan, med rött lådvin som serverades i plastmuggar till förbipasserande. Det visade sig att utställingen var precis där, i skyltfönstret till ett apotek. Verkligen en kur för trötta ögon! Jag passade på att prata lite med en av de medverkande fotograferna, en mycket trevlig italienska vid namn Chiara Tocci, för tillfället bosatt i Storbritannien. Hennes bilder är de till höger, med ett mycket vackert ljus. De ingår i ett långtidsprojekt hon arbetar på i Albanien. Fotona till vänster är tagna av Will Hartley och det hela organiserades av Joni Karanka och Third Floor Gallery. Chiara finns med bland vinnarna av FreshFacedandWildEyed2011 och ställer ut i Italien till hösten. En talang att hålla ögonen på.
